Dear art lovers,

I’m teaching art to children at Worcester Art museum. My wonderful kids asked me to teach them to weave. They are 5 to 7 year old and weaving was challenging but the one who stood out the most is one child from Guatemala who wanted to learn how so he can show his grandpa (who is a weaver) that he is following in his footsteps!

Next course for children will start on July 27-31 , title: Fun with Fiber - off the Page. children’s age: 5-7 pm; times: 1-3 pm.

Worcester Art Museum is having a call to artists: To The Earth We Love, and this is the piece I’m submitting.

Mar’kee Thomas from Third Eye Yoga Studio, commissioned me to weave two large pieces to go in her new studio at the Worcester Craft Center, 25 Sagamore Road, Worcester. Each weaving is about 3’ x 7’ to cover a brick wall in the studio. They will be there for aesthetic reasons and to muffle the sounds of the artisans in the nearby studios.

I have built two large tapestry looms to weave both pieces at the same time as if one landscape divided into two. images to follow in August newsletter.

Call to artists from WSU gallery Mary Cosgrove Dolphin Gallery at Worcester State University: Boxes: Reimagined Containers. It will run from Sept. 3 to October 3. I hope my piece titles: 9 to 5 will be accepted.

I am installing my two pieces Prince Charming & Putah at Old Frog Farm on 8/8.

The show runs from August 26th -October 12. Prince Charming is missing his crown :-)

As part of my WAC grant, in addition to having an exhibition by the end of the year, I proposed to run three workshops at Worcester Public Library in creating boats (Let’s Float a Boat Series). The first was in June creating boats with paper origami sculpture. On July 9, we created boats in air dry clay.

Our wonderful librarian, Alicia Rogers, who helps in running my workshops.

Third workshop will take place on 8/20 4-5 pm by using natural materials to create a vessel/ boat.

My piece Harmony of Peace got accept to Flying Horse Call to artists at Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA. Installation is on 8/8. exhibit runs Sept. 5th- Nov. 29. Artists’ reception Sept. 13.

At last, I’m devoting time and effort into building my boats for my October exhibit Hold Me Tender at WSU gallery. this is by far the largest boat I have built at 7.5 ‘
